Be a Part of the Journey ~ PTPI's Educational & Humanitarian Initiatives enable you to gain a more complete understanding of another culture through travel and firsthand experiences. Itineraries are thoughtfully crafted to ensure delegates experience the best each destination has to offer. And in the "people-to-people" tradition, each initiative includes opportunities to meet and learn from local chapter members, dignitaries and experts, and to contribute to communities through humanitarian projects. A glimpse into the lives of those you will meet:
Despite extreme poverty and hardship in the outskirts of Johannesburg and Cape Town, the locals still find a way to take care of one another.
"I found myself with 500 orphans who had lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, and I just had to find a way to help," says Carol Dyantyi founder of Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry, which delegates will visit. "Every morning, parents drop off their children at 7:00 a.m., so they can go to work [in Cape Town]. And even without a proper school, we find a way to teach 120 children in a space fit for only 20."
